At the end of each season the farm business owner and their DairyBase accredited accountant or consultant discuss the DairyBase analysis to be carried out for the farm business.
If financial analysis is to be done, the farm business owner then supplies their accountant with a completed Level 1 Questionnaire, (i.e. questions relating to physical aspects of the farm business e.g. stock numbers, milk production, area etc). The accountant loads the Level 1 information onto DairyBase in conjunction with the annual accounts.
If physical detail analysis is to be done, the farm business owner also completes a more comprehensive Level 2 physical detail questionnaire with assistance from a farm consultant or DairyNZ consulting officer, who then loads this information onto DairyBase.
A farm business has the option of financial or physical analysis. For maximum value, a combination of both is recommended.
Once data is entered, the farmer and accountant/consultant can access a range of reports specific to their farm to discuss during client interviews, annual reviews, and business planning meetings, or in the individual's own time.
